This year, I participated in three separate Secret Santa exchanges: work, friends, and Reddit. I seriously hit the jackpot, and I’m so happy with everything I got.
My work SS turned out to be my first friend in the office. She’s also the person who coordinated the exchange, and I’m pretty convinced she rigged it so she could get me. In any case, she got me a pretty ring which turned out to be perfect. She’s the glittery, colorful, sparkly, artistic type of girl, so I’m glad she was able to tone it down for the gift.
My friend SS was probably the absolute best person ever. Not long after the matches were sent out, I received an anonymous email from someone who began asking me random fun questions trying to figure out what I wanted. He then made a hilarious Twitter account just for the hell of it. I was super excited when his identity was finally received. He gave me the cherry cordials, 3D cat cards, and The Hangeovr Coobkook (because I said I wanted something that would cure all-day hangovers).
My Reddit SS was an incredible reveal. I’m sure I’ve mentioned before that I’ve been attending r/NYC meetups since the spring, and I’ve met quite a few Redditors since then. When my match anonymously messaged me asking if I’d be at the weekly meetup, I was going crazy trying to figure out if I already knew the person. And it turns out I did! He’s one of the first Redditors I ever met. What are the freaking chances of that? Everything else in the picture is what he gave me, and the kitty coin box amuses me to no end. The cat pops out of the box to steal the coin, then goes back in the box. I collected $4.07 last night from pestering people at the meetup to test it out.
Amazing gifts and such a fun time. How can anyone hate Secret Santa?
Also, fun fact. I’m allergic to cats and much prefer dogs. Maybe because I go on the internet and like cute animals, people think I love cats?
How can I ever stop participating in Reddit’s gift exchanges when I get crazy shit like this? There’s another face on the other side of the mug, too.
Sometimes, I feel the guys I talk to at Reddit meetups must be thinking this. A majority of the time, it’s the latter. And I’m not even that nice.
Ah, Reddit, you so clever. [In reference to this.]
But I didn’t mean to! I just wanted to check up on it and make sure it was okay.
